To the hands of the Minister of Agriculture of the Czech Republic, the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic
Dear Minister, dear Deputies and Senators of the Parliament of the Czech Republic,
the newly released footage from Czech fur farms, taken in the years 2013 to 2015, has shown once again just how appalling conditions these animals are forced to live in. The unsuitability of keeping wild animals, such as foxes and minks, in bare wire cages is also clearly documented by scientific studies. We believe that the suffering of animals for an entirely unnecessary fashion accessory, such as fur, does not belong in the 21st century.
10 European countries have already directly or indirectly banned breeding animals for fur; in other countries, such ban is intensively negotiated. According to the latest survey by CVVM, 68 % of Czech citizens wish for such ban to be applied in the Czech Republic too.
We, signed below, therefore urge you to listen to this unequivocal voice of citizens and to take action for the adoption of an amendment to the Animal Welfare Act, which will lead to a complete ban of fur farms in the Czech Republic.
